Teaming – Coming Together to Get Things Done

Welcome back! Transitioning from the end of summer back to work can bring with it a mixed bag of emotions. It’s certainly been a year of highs and lows (mainly highs!) for the team here, but we’re refreshed and POWERING UP for Q4 with a focus on TEAMING.

The term ‘teaming’ popped up from a book of the same name written by Amy Edmondson, Author and Professor of Leadership at Harvard University.

To use teaming as a verb hits us with the impact and energy of teamwork on the fly – across functional teams – to get work done. We love it so much that ‘Teaming’ will be the theme of Season 6 of our Get Amplified podcast. More on that later.

Turning 7

We often repeat Adam Grant’s saying that you need to follow the rule of 7 – that people need to hear the same message 7 times before they truly absorb and remember it.

I wonder if 7 years of refining and articulating our message is going to be THE YEAR for Amplified Group? Are you clear on what we do? If not, please tell us so that we can work on it.

It was brilliant to come together as a team and take a moment to celebrate. We can forget how energising it can be when we are all together (the pony brought a few laughs). If there’s one thing to get booked in your diary, it’s an in-person team meeting.

And even better, if you need an external facilitator to help maximise your time and ideas, please bring us in to help. We have all the props needed to get everyone involved.

It’s a privilege to work with some amazing teams in the tech industry. We are incredibly proud to be part of the Dynatrace Regional Director Excellence Program to create and deliver the ‘Leading through Change’ workshop utilising the Switch framework.

You can hear about our partnership with Dynatrace in the Get Amplified episode: ‘Building a Powerhouse Sales Team with Andy Wills, EMEA Sales Enablement Director, Dynatrace’

Off to University

We’ve moved up a gear/year?! Our co-founder, Vicky Reddington, has become a Visiting Fellow at MK:U Cranfield University.

She’s a bit modest about it but we’re thrilled that Vicky can share her experience and knowledge in team performance with the next generation of leaders. It fits so well with Amplified Group’s vision to help build high-performance teams that drive organisational success. We can’t wait to see where this leads!

You can find out more about what Vicky’s up to when we speak to Dr Mark Baker on Get Amplified later this month. Mark is a consultant academic on risk management, and we’ll be delving into how we can make the back office a competitive advantage for sales.

Out Now: Season 6 of the Get Amplified Podcast

After a podcasting break, Sam and Vic are back. We’ve started off strong with the experienced and innovative GTM leader, Ross Brown.

Listen to Episode 1: ‘Teaming: Problem Solving at Scale’

Get Amplified Podcast Series 6 Episode 1 - Teaming: Problem Solving at Scale, with Ross Brown GTM Leader

With an impressive career that spans over three decades, including senior leadership roles at Citrix, Microsoft, VMware, and Oracle, we delve into the topic of teaming at scale. Ross shares his vast experience and insights into how strategic partnerships can drive efficiency and success.

This episode offers a compelling take on how effective teaming and trust-building are crucial in today’s competitive landscape. Read more.

Why focus on Teaming?

I think Amy Edmondson sums it up:

“For over a century, we’ve focused too much on relentless execution and depended too much on fear to get things done. That era is over.”

Teaming helps readdress behaviours within an organisation to cut through the inertia. It probably sounds a lot like common sense but it’s surprising how inward looking the ways of doing things have become. So much so, that we forget to put the customer at the heart of everything we do.

Amy boils down teaming success to four key behaviours:

  • Speaking up
  • Collaboration
  • Experimentation
  • Reflections

We will be delving into this topic quite a bit, so stay tuned.

Breaking Down Silos

In our silo’s we can get things done but when you step out of your silo’s, miracles can happen.” – Amy Edmondson

You probably haven’t noticed, but we’ve changed our incredibly long tagline on LinkedIn to a shorter version: ‘Amplified Group – Breaking down silos’

We see the problem of organisations stalling in growth down to divisions and silos forming in companies of all sizes.

If breaking down silos is the problem, then teaming is the solution.

We help organisations to team.

EUC Forum London

There is an Operating System for Teams. In fact, our co-founder Vicky Reddington is delighted to be able to share this framework at EUC Forum London on 26th November.
