Team Exercise

When we work with leadership teams, this question often sparks intriguing conversations. Our giraffe and elephant props get passed around the room quickly as leaders share their inner conflicts.

It’s common for leaders to prioritise the team they lead over the team they report to or contribute to. This can lead to competing priorities and silos, especially if there isn’t a shared goal and execution plan at the leadership level.

5-Minute Reflection

Objective: Reflect on whether your primary allegiance is to the team you lead or the team you report into.

As a quick team reflection, consider your primary team allegiance and the implications of your choice. Reflecting on this can help us align our priorities and foster better collaboration.

Talking points

Discuss and review your cadence of meetings. Are you being the most productive with your time? Did you:

  • Seek clarity of what was agreed?
  • Write it down to get agreement?
  • Refer back to the meeting checklist!
